If you heard the recent news on TikTok, then you probably already know that it could potentially get banned in the US. This is disappointed because this platform has been such a beneficial tool for small businesses. However, there is a bigger issue.
A lot of small businesses who use the app are not only disappointed about this news but are worried their business will go down with it. With the popularity of the app, a lot of people have built their businesses solely on this platform.
As fantastic as this social platform is, if the only way you can reach your audience is through the app then you have a problem.
At the end of the day, we have no control over social media. Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter – ANY of these platforms could be deleted tomorrow and we have no ownership to our followers.
Now, I am not suggesting that you stop using social media. What I am recommending is to make sure you are incorporating branding, website, and email marketing in conjunction with these social platforms. Here’s how:
Having a strong brand presence is essential. You need to stand out and be remembered. Good branding will increase the value of your business while building credibility and trust.
The point of social media for business is to get new customers and clients. If you don’t have a website, where are you driving your audience? Your website is how people are going to learn more about you and ultimately decide if they want to work with you. Not to mention you actually have control over your website and you can also collect leads and client information which brings me to point 3.
You need to have an email list. It doesn’t have to be thousands of people but you do need one. This is how you can stay in touch with your current customers but also how you can build a relationship with potential customers.
Don’t rely on one social media platform to grow your business. I recommend picking 2-3 and being consistent with all of them. Plus, you can reach a larger audience this way!
